The Temple 2027 is a volunteer-built art project for Burning Man. This policy explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we only collect what you choose to send us, we use it to run the Temple project, and we never sell it.
01 Information we collect
We only collect information you give us directly:
- Volunteer sign-up: your name (and playa name, if you have one), email, phone or WhatsApp number, where you are based, how you would like to be involved, the kinds of work that interest you, your skills and experience, your availability, anything else you choose to tell us, and whether we may email you.
- Contact form: your name, email, subject and message.
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or social media pixels on this website.
02 How we use it
We use your information only for the Temple 2027 project, for example to:
- organize the volunteer crew, match people with roles and plan build days;
- reply to your questions and messages;
- send you volunteer opportunities and project updates, but only if you said yes to email.
We will not use it for anything unrelated to the project, and we will not send you commercial messages from anyone else.
03 Services that handle your information
We rely on a few trusted services to run this website. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Google Forms (Google LLC) stores volunteer sign-ups for our crew coordinators.
- FormSubmit delivers contact form messages to our inbox by email.
- Vercel (Vercel Inc.) hosts this website. Like most web hosts, it may keep basic technical logs, such as your IP address and browser type, for security and reliability.
- Donations are handled on a separate, secure donation platform that opens in a new tab. Your payment details go to that platform, not to us, and its own privacy policy applies.
04 Cookies and your browser
This website does not set cookies of any kind. It may store two small things in your own browser, and neither ever leaves your device:
- a draft of your volunteer sign-up, so your answers are not lost if you refresh the page. It is cleared once you submit;
- the title font you pick in the footer, so the site remembers your choice from page to page.
The typefaces are served from this website itself, so loading a page does not contact any font service.
You can clear stored data at any time through your browser settings.
05 Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it:
- with the Temple 2027 crew leads and coordinators who need it to organize the build;
- with the services listed above, only as needed to run this website;
- when the law requires it.
06 How long we keep it
We keep your information while the Temple 2027 project is active. After the project wraps up following the 2027 burn, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable time, unless you have asked us to stay in touch about future projects. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.
07 Your choices and rights
You can, at any time:
- ask to see the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- stop project emails, by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by telling us;
- withdraw your consent to being contacted.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California. To make any request, email contact@2027temple.com or use our contact page.
08 Security
We take reasonable care to protect your information and limit who can see it. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
09 Age
Our volunteer program is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has sent us their details, please let us know and we will delete them.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the project grows. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we will let volunteers know by email.
11 Contact
